What does Amprolium treat?
Amprolium is a thiamine analogue that is used to prevent and treat intestinal coccidiosis (Table 10-1). It is available as a feed additive for livestock and is sometimes administered in food or drinking water to puppies and kittens.
How do you use Amprolium in poultry?

As a preventative: Add 30 g of Amprolium 200 per 25 litres of drinking water (1.2 g per litre) and administer for 24 hours every fourth day, during periods of likely infection. This regimen helps control coccidia by disrupting their life cycle, and allows the birds to develop immunity.

Amprolium is one of the more popular drugs for the treatment of coccidiosis. Sulfonamides, such as sulfadimethoxine, can be administered in the drinking water for treatment under the direction of a licensed veterinarian.
